As Head of Advanced Narratives and Neurotechnology at Warner Bros., Arvel Chappell leads groups dedicated to immersive content production, R&D, and quantitative analytics. Chappell and his teams are working on leading-edge efforts to create, launch and quantify ever-more immersive and personalized content experiences for viewers.
Chappell’s diverse career has spanned AI, cinema, virtual reality and space. He has directed numerous short films and most recently concepted and directed a VR experience for The DailyShow’s Trevor Noah. He began his career working with government-based organizations and customers in the space industry including serving as Chief Engineer over the Wideband Global Satcom constellation at Boeing.
Chappell holds an MFA in cinema production from USC and was a Sundance screenwriting lab semi-finalist. He also holds a BS in electrical engineering from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona. He currently serves on the advisory board for the Center for Advanced Virtuality at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
