After completing her post-baccalaureate and graduate research fellowship at Yale University’s Neuroscience Interdepartmental Program, Kaltuma faced a pivotal career decision: she opted not to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Oregon Health and Science University, instead shifting her focus to the tech and design industry as a design researcher. Design Research, integral to the broader realm of design thinking and practice, centers on understanding users, their needs, and the contexts shaping their experiences. Kaltuma found particular intrigue in its systematic and disciplined approach to enhancing the design process itself. She developed a passion for exploring the intersection of behavioral psychology and human-computer interaction, driving her transition into this dynamic field. Kaltuma founded and is the Editor-in-Chief of Visually, a design magazine for creative minds to foster design dialogue and celebrate visual culture, its creators, and the diverse expressions of design across mediums.
