Kofi Boakye is an Applied Scientist at Pinterest, and brings over 10 years of experience in machine learning and computer vision to the task of enhancing the company’s leading-edge visual search technologies.
Prior to joining Pinterest, Kofi served as a Principal Research Engineer on the Vision team at Yahoo/Flickr and as the first Computer Vision group leader within the Computational Engineering Division at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His technical areas of interest also include speech, audio, and natural language processing.
In his “free” time, Kofi primarily enjoys music and movement. He’s studied and trained in piano, gospel choir, salsa, capoeira, and afro-brazilian dance. Kofi is also Board Chair for Dancin Power, an Oakland-based non-profit that teaches free interactive dance classes to hospitalized children.
Kofi holds a PhD and Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University.
