Awah Teh is a seasoned technology executive and serial entrepreneur with a strong background in FinTech, media tech and health tech spaces. From high-growth tech start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, Awah’s corporate experiences center around leveraging data to build robust, insights-driven and innovation-fueled business cultures and products. Prior to Capital One, Awah was the Global Chief Data Architect at Yahoo/Verizon Media Group. At Yahoo/VMG, he was responsible for formulating a modernized data strategy to drive digital transformation for Yahoo’s multi-exabyte data asset moving to public clouds from on-prem data centers. In addition to this major strategic initiative, Awah was also responsible for establishing data governance frameworks across all of Yahoo’s brands, rethinking consumer privacy preservation, data quality, data-lineage, and helping to create enterprise-wide data ecosystems to break down data-silos.
Awah currently serves as Capital One’s Enterprise Data Governance & Privacy Engineering executive. In this role he oversees the development and delivery of technologies relating to Data Lineage, Data Quality, Access Control Management, external data sharing, including leading the privacy engineering arm of Capital One that spearheads the development of Privacy Enhancing Technologies such as Data Tokenization and HSHD Detection, Consumer Consent and privacy regulatory compliance. In addition to this, Awah sits on the board of MIT’s Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Lab
(CSAIL).
