Shannon Barnes Martin serves as Principal Product Manager within the Health and Life Sciences division of Microsoft. In this role, Shannon supports multi-disciplinary teams in the development of clinical content for AI software. She is an experienced nurse informaticist and subject matter expert related to clinical content research and development, clinical workflows, and identifying standards and requirements for software development. Prior to Microsoft, Shannon worked at several premier medical centers including the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s National Medical Center, and Miami Children’s Hospital. Shannon is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice focused with a focus in Nursing Informatics. In her spare time, she volunteers with Girls Who Code, engaging with young women to inspire a love of STEM. She is also the Co-founder of Technology Healthcare Information Sister (ThiSister) networking group on LinkedIn, where she connects with other women of color to share knowledge and information related to different healthcare and technology topics.
